Courses at Hamsey Gardening Club

Hamsey-Gardening-Club

Nestled within the South Down National Park, just a few miles from Lewes, Hamsey House was built in 1849. The garden incorporates an orchard with a wildflower patch, a vegetable and cut flower garden, large herbaceous border, a parterre and many established trees and shrubs.

Part of Amy’s gardening education was to enroll in a course at The Beeches in Barcombe. It was here that she met Laurie McMillan who was the teacher. At the end of the course Amy asked Laurie “why don’t you come and have a look at the herbaceous border and see what you think?” Laurie has been busy at Hamsey House ever since. It is through Laurie’s plant knowledge, creativity and hard work that the garden is continuing to evolve.
